figurative language
NeverShoutNever is a band I used to fan girl
over when I was about fourteen years old. Their style is a more alterative
genre rather than pop. My friends and I would watch His music videos for hours.
I really enjoy the unique twist he would use on his songs. In those years of
“fan girling”, there was not any other artists I was exposed to that sounded
like him.
For instance, one of my all-time favorite
songs that I still jam too is ,“trouble”, on
the album ME and Me Uke-EP, He sings,
“She’s
got my heart tied in a knot and my stomach in a whorl”
This is a hyperbole, it is
indicated by him singing his heart is in a knot, and his stomach in
a whorl. These are exaggerations because those two things are impossible.
An artist I love so very much is Michael Jackson, I still am and always
will be a fan girl for him. His music qualifies in many different categories
like; pop, soul, rhythm and blues, rock, etc.
In the hit song “thriller” from the album thriller, he sings
“darkness falls across the land”
This indicates imagery, he is
giving us a visual on the setting.
Frank Ocean was a singer I listened to before he got famous from his album
channel ORANGE. I began to listen to
him around the same time I started listening to NeverShoutNever. He uses a lot
of figurative language in his songs.
“Our
skin like bronze and our hair like cashmere”
Frank is comparing skin and hair to
a tan tone person. This is Simile he uses like to compare skin to bronze and
hair to cashmere.
I am going to take a wild guess and assume you are a big fan of MJ. Not many people talk about him anymore! Stay a true fan!
ReplyDeleteYou had a very good use of figurative language!
Michael Jackson uses a bunch of figurative language in his music. Great job of pointing it out.
ReplyDeleteI am a huge fan of Frank Ocean and I love the song Pyramids. Although it is so long, I can relate to your liking of his music. I bet Frank Ocean has many figurative language examples. Great job at finding that simile.
ReplyDeleteI LOOOOOVE NEVER SHOUT NEVER!!!!! This song does show hyperbole , and your example is how he made my stomach feel when i saw him live!
ReplyDeleteYou had really good lyrics. They had great figurative language but I must admit Michael Jackson is my favorite one.
ReplyDeleteYou have chosen some great songs that have figurative language in them.
ReplyDeletethe songs you have chosen are great for figurative language from the king pop
ReplyDeleteBy far Thriller was one of the best songs of all time, I could not stop dancing/singing to it. Nevertheless, I like the way you broke the song down with figurative language.
